Registration is now open for the 6th Annual 72 Hour Film Shootout with new online registration this year!
AAFilmLab members get an additional $20 discount off the Regular Shootout entry fees. Just sign up to be a member first. (See the right hand column—>).

This year is shaping up to be a great year, so to keep the submissions coming, we are making a special announcement!

Register before June 19th for the Regular Registration fee of only $45.

That’s right folks, thanks to the Asian Arts Alliance JP Morgan SOAR grant, we’re keeping the Regular Registration fee at Early Bird prices.
We would like to get as many filmmakers involved as we can.

Next AAFilmLab “Unfinished Works” Meeting Thursday, Dec. 2nd!  READERS NEEDED!

Next AAFilmLab “Unfinished Works” Meeting Thursday, Dec. 2nd!  READERS NEEDED!:

This month, we have 2 scripts that we will be workshopping for our “Unfinished Works.”  There will be a reading and feedback for both Sonia Nam and Meg Cheng’s script. 
Sonia will need 3 or 4 male readers and 2 female readers for multiple roles.  Here is a breakdown of the roles:
Our Guy - (MALE, A Phillip S. Hoffman or Paul Giamati type…) 40-50 middle aged, worn around the edges, wouldn’t give a second look to.
Penny - (FEMALE, Angela from “The Office” type or Melissa McCarthy from “Mike & Molly)  30-40ish, initially has a “vacancy” about her.
Dealer - (MALE) 20-50 very detached feel about him, almost androidish.
Waitress - (FEMALE) 20-40 same detached feel as dealer (she’s both the cocktail waitress and the diner waitress)
Manager - (MALE) 30-50 very corporate
Accountant - (MALE) 25-50 a bit goofy
Another Guy - (MALE) 40-50 looks eerily like “Our Guy”
Cowboy - (MALE) 30-50 Southern Drawl
Meg - (FEMALE) 25-35 young honeymooner
Max - (MALE) 25-35 young honeymooner
Elvis Impersonator - (MALE) 20-50 Foreign Elvis Impersonator, speaks broken English

A Call For “Unfinished Works”:
We are continuing going back to our roots with our original WORKSHOP format.  It’s an opportunity for us to help challenge and improve each other’s work, grow as a filmmakers and strengthen the bonds between us.  It’s a great way of progressing by problem solving while building community.  So, if you have an unfinished work, please bring it in to workshop!

We are still seeking “Unfinished Works” to workshop including, but not limited to:
1. Screenplays
2. Films in pre/post production
3. Acting monologues
4. Storyboarding, art direction including set, lighting, costume designs, sound design (including music) and editing choices, a specific scene challenge…basically any thing that isn’t complete that you need an outside perspective on to help you complete your vision.
