This Friday, June 20th, 2008, at 8pm, the long awaited Theme will be announced at the Shootout Launch Party and posted simultaneously on http://www.72hourfilmshootout.com. Starting at 6pm, come kickoff the start of the 5th Annual 72 Hour Film Shootout! If you are an actor, writer, director, or film fan looking to join a team, we will be making team match-ups at the event. Come to find new team members, join an existing team, and meet other local filmmakers. Also, if you would like to participate in the Shootout, we will have Registration on-site, so it’s not too late to sign-up! As a special treat, New York hip hop sensations Koba and DJ Boo will be performing live at the launch party. Representatives from Shootout sponsors Asia Cinevision, The Museum of Chinese in America’s (MOCA) Chinatown Film Project, Deluxe, Ningin.com, and Aspire Asian Film Circle will be on hand to meet guests and share a few words about this year’s Shootout and their own projects. Two films from the 2007 72 Hour Film Shootout also make their Canadian premieres on Nov 7: “Since You’ve Been Ong” directed by Frank Yeean Chan; and “You’ve Got Male” directed by Christopher Nguyen and Ryan Kim. Tuesday, October 21, 2008CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Korean American Film Festival NYThe Korean American Film Festival NY (KAFFNY) is a one-day New York showcase of works by emerging and established Korean filmmakers and performers. KAFFNY 2009 seeks films that express the points of view of filmmakers / performers of ethnic Korean descent from around the world - to see what and how they see the world around them. KAFFNY is now accepting short film submissions from filmmakers / performers of ethnic Korean descent, of any nationality. All genres are welcome: narrative, animation, music video, documentary, experimental etc. There is no entry fee. Submission deadline is November 30.
