SYNOPSIS: A woman accused of a gruesome act against her husband signs a contract with a true crime television producer while she waits to stand trial. Her mental capacity is examined through a series of interviews and reenactments.

BREAKDOWNS:

MIKOTO - F/Asian/mid-late 20s
Detached from her repetitious chores/duties as a housewife, she remembers little of the night’s events and comes face to face with her actions.

THE PSYCHIATRIST - F/Asian/early 30s
A court-appointed psychiatrist, second generation Asian American. Professional and quiet, she’s built her success through her hard work. It’s her job to assess the mental capacities of potential murderers, and she takes it seriously as a matter of honor.

THE HOST - F/Caucasian/early-late 30s
She’s ambitious and blunt with her investigative reporting. As a part of the on-screen cast, she has a polished sense of performance that pushes the boundaries of civility when she’s after an answer. She’s an outsider attempting to delve into a dark world.

THE LAWYER - M/Caucasian/early-mid 40s
A state-appointed attorney. He acts as a liaison for Mikoto and believes publicity may help him win her case. He monitors her behavior closely while in front of The Psychiatrist. Non-speaking role.

MIKOTO’S HUSBAND RE-ENACTOR - male/Asian/mid-30s
A salary man in of small stature, naive to the state of his surroundings. He eats dinner while watching television, watches movies in the dark. Non-speaking role.

MIKOTO RE-ENACTOR - female/Asian/early-late 20s
She bears an uncanny resemblance to a younger Mikoto as seen in a photograph. She has quiet conviction to recreate the story with a high level of authenticity. Non-speaking role.
