20 min short film to be shot on HD - revolving the life of an Asian immigrant who moves into an apartment in Flushing, Queens - and gets more than he bargains for. COPY/CREDIT/MEALS/TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL STIPEND if necessary
Character breakdown:
ZAKI - Lead / Male / Asian / 25 - 33 years
Description: Zaki is a Malaysian man who has lived his life straight by the rules. Engaged to be married, he packs his bags to New York to find a clearer understanding about life.
Proficiency in Malay/Indonesian a plus, or able to learn the language
MIRA - Lead / Female / Asian / 20 - 30 years
Description: Preferably Indonesian and has a good command of the language.
An abusive husband and poverty push Mira to pack her bags and leave her small village in Java, Indonesia to provide a better life for her ailing mother and young child, Yuri. She is young and fearless, but with a soft, loving and tender side ? and will stop at nothing to provide for her child.
Proficiency in Malay/Indonesian a plus, or able to learn the language
FERDY - Featured / Male / Asian / 20 - 35 years
Description: (male/mid-late 20s, Indonesian) Since overstaying his tourist visa two years ago, Ferdy doing odd jobs to sustain himself while being in New York. He takes in Mira as his roommate although she is always behind in paying her rent. He is jovial and friendly, but can get rough when his feathers are ruffled.
